Roof Pitch Angle Chart lets you find out how steep or flat your roof slope is. The roof pitch is displayed or shown using a two-digit combination. The most frequent approaches for designating the pitch of a roof are (4/12 or 4:12).

What is the minimum slope for a pitched roof?
A roof’s smallest pitch equals 1/4″ rise to a 12″ run. Built-up or specialized synthetic roofs are the only way to use such a small pitch. Low-slope roofs are not appropriate for porches that are located near trees or that are prone to heavy rains.
What is the most common roof pitch angle?
In the vast majority of flat roofing systems, 1:80 (0.720) is the recommended minimum angle, irrespective of the materials used.
How do you find the angle of a roof pitch?
When calculating the pitch, or angle of a roof, take into account the number of inches the roof rises vertically for every 12 inches it extends horizontally. Typically, a pitch of 6-in-12 refers to a roof that rises 6 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run.
I am adding a portch to my home the main house has a 7/12 pitch and the portch is on the slope side. the new roof is going to be a 3/12 pitch how do i figure the angle where the new rafter meets the 7/12 roof.
I would suggest that you draw it out full scale on the edge of a piece of plywood. Draw two crossong lines, one at 7:12, and the other at 3:12. Then put one arm of your square on the 3:12 line with 12 at the crossing point, and read off the number where the 7:12 line passes under the other arm. I think it should be at the four mark.
